Fender '68 Custom Deluxe Reverb Guitar Valve Amplifier Combo

1968 was a transitional year for Fender amps, with tone that was still pure Fender but a look that was brand new. Fender '68 Custom Deluxe Reverb Guitar Valve Amplifier Combo

During the late 1960s, Fender was the amp of choice for pros who needed reliable, roadworthy workhorses that produced luscious, textured and powerful tones that were suitable for both studio quality recordings and melting faces at rock gigs. During this time the design of the amp changed from the black cloth "blackface"-style of the earlier models to a new "silverface"-style that featured a cool silver and turquoise front panel and aluminium "drip edge" grille cloth trim. The new 1968 Custom Deluxe Reverb combo amplifier resurrects that classic vibe with a modern twist in order to cater to modern guitar players' requirements.

The '68 Custom Deluxe Reverb features modified all-tube circuitry across two channels: Custom and Vintage. The "vintage" channel produces that sweet "silverface" tone that was - and is - so highly sought after by players due to its perfectly rounded response from low to high, making it perfect for those looking for a powerful yet subtle clean tone for both rhythm and lead playing. Taking into account the requirements of modern day players, the "custom" channel features a modified Fender Bassman tone stack that gives you greater flexibility over your tone, allowing some absolutely crushing wailing to be created within the amp itself. Both channels play host to genuine Fender tube-driven spring reverb and tremolo effects, giving you plenty of scope to create a huge wall of sound.

To enable the amp to run at full pelt without breaking a sweat, Fender have created custom-made Schumacher transformers - similar to those in the original '60s Deluxe Reverbs - to drive the amp circuitry along. A whopping 4 x 12AX7 and 2 X 12AT7 tubes are built-in at the pre-amp stage, allowing you to introduce an enormous amount of gain. Then you have 2 x 6V6 tubes in the power amp, giving the signal the kick it needs to belt out your tone. The guys at Fender have enabled a 'quicker gain onset' feature to boost the signal and build up a densely "overdriven" sound. However, to prevent unwanted noise creeping into your signal mix, the design team have cleverly introduced a 'reduced negative feedback' feature to ensure a smooth tone without intrusion. The brilliantly executed circuitry drives the single 12" Celestion G12V-70 speaker that have been specially selected due to its excellent tonal delivery, offering rumbling lows, fat mids and crisp highs with plenty of spark.

The finish of the '68 Custom Deluxe Reverb is stunning. All the classic finishing touches have been included: black textured vinyl covering with 1968-style "Silverface" aluminium trim around silver-turquoise grille cloth and vintage-style skirted black plastic control knobs. A moulded plastic strap with nickel-plated caps makes it easier to carry back and forth to jam sessions and gigs.

The '68 Custom Deluxe Reverb resurrects a classic amp that has been adored and cherished by rockers for decades. No matter what style of music you play, no matter what venue you're in, this amp can do it all and do it in style!
