Welcome to Gibson Acoustic Guitars
Gibson Acoustic Guitars were founded in 1902 by Orville Gibson as The Gibson Mandolin-Guitar Mfg. Co., Ltd. Kalamazoo Michigan to make mandolin-family instruments. Gibson invented archtop guitars by constructing the same type of carved, arched tops used by violin makers. As a result of his innovation by the 1930s, the company was also making flattop acoustic guitars and brought us classics like the Gibson SJ-200, J-45, Dove and the Hummingbird.
