The Epiphone Emperor Swingster is a superb hollowbody
instrument that harks back to the golden era of electric guitar
manufacturing in the mid-20th Century. Blending premium components
with first-class style, this great-value instrument excels for a
wide range of musical genres — including jazz, blues, rockabilly,
country and rock.
Faithfully maintaining many of the original Swingster's
signature features — such as a Bigsby tailpiece, old-school block
inlays, and a tasteful mother of pearl "Tree of Life" design on the
large headstock — this reimagined Emperor Swingster has also been
enhanced with a raft of modern refinements including Grover tuners,
low-noise Epiphone SwingBucker pickups and a Graph Tech nut.
Classic Construction
The Emperor Swingster's body is crafted from strong layered
Maple, which is used to form its top, back and sides. Giving the
instrument plenty of vibrancy, definition and acoustic-like volume
— you can expect airy, resonant tones with singing sustain.
To add some mid-range warmth, the Swingster's body is joined
with a Mahogany neck; topped with an Indian Laurel fingerboard for
a silky touch under the fingers. The neck adheres to a contemporary
'SlimTaper' profile, which provides excellent comfort for players
of all disciplines, while 22 medium jumbo frets offer a
controllable feel for vibrato and string bends.
Proprietary SwingBucker Pickups
While the Swingster's unique hollowbody construction
contributes massively to its broad tone, most of its scintillating
sound can be attributed to its proprietary SwingBucker pickup
pairing. Promising balanced lows, thick mids and chimey highs —
these beautifully-voiced, medium-output humbuckers are adaptable
for a range of different styles.
Push/pull switches are built into each volume control too, to
provide series/parallel switching for the pickups, along with the
conventional 3-way toggle selector switch and independent tone
knobs. All-in-all, these flexible electronics give you a wide
selection of sonic options!
Bigsby Tailpiece
The Epiphone Emperor Swingster may be a relatively affordable
instrument, but practically zero shortcuts have been taken when it
comes to its hardware appointments. Sporting a licensed Bigsby
vibrato, this gorgeous-looking tailpiece allows you to gently add
warble to chords or lead lines, with the ergonomically-shaped wire
handle perfectly fitting your hand for on-the-fly use.
Other features include high-quality Grover Rotomatic machine
heads, a tone-enhancing Graph Tech NuBone nut and a rock-solid
LockTone Tune-O-Matic bridge firmly pinned to a wooden base. You
can therefore expect rock-solid tuning stability and decades of
reliable use!
